The Analytics Engineering Podcast: Season 2
Much like the Godfather, this season SQL will be better than the original
During my first month at dbt Labs, Tristan made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. He asked if I wanted to start a podcast with him. “You got it, boss!” I said, not really knowing what I was getting myself into. No concrete boots, no threatening gifts at my apartment—we just got to work recording. Emboldened with our new fancy microphones, thanks to our producer David Krevitt, we put on our best radio voices and became the hosts of The Analytics Engineering Podcast.
Okay, so comparing season 2 of a data podcast to the Godfather: Part II is a stretch, but we promise to share some data wisdom and hopefully even entertain!
Since going live on July 1st, we’ve had over 30k listens, which according to Buzzsprout makes us a top 5% podcast! Pretty cool that so many people want to listen to us nerd out about data. While we’ve had lots of guests from different backgrounds – founders of data companies, leaders of data teams, investors in data tools, the unifying thread is that we seek to inspire and seed ideas for our listeners to move their practice forward.
Our most popular episodes of Season 1 were:
Robert Chang: Building the Minerva Metrics Store @ Airbnb
Erik Bernhardsson: The Missing Tool in the Data Team’s Toolbox
Seth Rosen: On Becoming a Full-stack Data Analyst
We asked our listeners what they care about most, and we heard back a desire to learn more about new technologies, new tools, and leveling up skills and teams. Listeners want conversations with underdog data practitioners and examples of hard problems solved with data insights. We’ll deliver these stories in season two, and we’ll also experiment with different show formats. We’ll push content live when there’s a newsworthy event in the data industry, and on some episodes, we’ll riff the two of us on a topic we’re passionate about.
And in the same way we do everything at dbt Labs, we invite you, the community, to come along for the ride. Listen to a show, spark a new conversation, share your thoughts back with us and others, join us on an episode! All feedback is welcome —find us on dbt Slack.
And don’t go anywhere because The Analytics Engineering Podcast: Season 2 is HERE! Just when you think you’re out, we pull you back in…
P.S. How were the vibes Krevitt??
